Are you ready for another cold and snowy winter? Here’s a DIY checklist of low-cost and no-cost ways you can keep your home cozy, avoid damage, and lower heating bills:
- Keep cold air out by installing door sweeps on exterior doors, closing storm windows and doors and locking windows, and closing adjustable air conditioning vents.
- Turn on your ceiling fans, with direction reversed. Clockwise rotation will redistribute warm air to help rooms feel warmer.
- Avoid frozen pipes by shutting off water to outside faucets and putting on insulated faucet covers.
- Bring garden hoses indoors to garage or shed. They’ll last longer if not stored outside.
